For elder.co
why FORELDER.
Carita and I became parents one year apart and we both had difficult experiences. (You can listen to our stories under our bio )
It was a massive struggle finding our way back to work-life and somehow also be the good, loving, present parent and partner while taking care of the house and the toys, and all the stuff, because there was so much stuff. The whole experience was overwhelming and it became pure survival.
We realized that the world we live in today is not created for working parents. With so much information available for everyone and all the focus on productivity, performance, and making everything work, you might think that all these opportunities translate into support, but their true effect is to overwhelm you.
The truth is that parents need support, actual support. Parents need practical help like how to make the homefront work, what to buy, and what to cook. Even better, parents need people to come and help them with these things. It has never been more difficult to be a parent than it is today and optimizing practical things while learning to let go of trivial things is a must if you want to thrive and not only survive.
At the same time, parents need support at work, because it is an excruciating exercise to balance home and work.
Our experience in figuring out how to simplify life as a parent and seeing how it was also helping others, made us realize that we could help more parents and more companies to change and create an environment where families thrive and not only survive.
This is how forelder. was born and we made it our mission to simplify how to parent and work.
